Regulate Before You Educate
Coaches are seeing more athletes who “zone out” during instructions, run off during class, crash into equipment or other athletes, need to be moving constantly, struggle to sit still, have trouble finding their place in line, move with very little body control, avoid certain clothing or textures, or cover their ears. These are signs of sensory differences—not behavior problems—and they directly affect safety, focus, and skill learning.
This session explains the sensory system in simple terms and shows coaches how proprioception, vestibular input, and interoception influence behavior and movement. You’ll learn what to adjust in your drills, environment, and communication to help athletes stay regulated and ready to learn. Walk away with clear, practical tools you can use immediately to support all athletes and create a more sensory-friendly gym.
